Happy Mooncake Festival @ Happy Lantern Festival

TOday is Mooncake Festival which also known as Lantern Festival.
because in Lunar Calender, today is 15th of August.... (农历八月十五)
so here i wish you all:

Happy Mooncake Festival @ Happy Lantern Festival~
中秋节快乐。。。

this is what we always heard during this festival:
每逢佳节倍思亲。。。
and

但愿人长久，千里共婵娟

which is my previous blog title... click it to see some mooncake^^ hehe....

during Lantern Festival, some common things that we'll do is:
1.提灯笼
2.吃月饼 eating mooncake
3.赏月

and not to forget, during the lantern taking parade (i mean 提灯笼游行).
every city or town will have their own culture/ own yelling words.

for example in my hometown-- AYER TAWAR, when we taking the lantern and walk around the houses or taman, we'll yell: "ma ni ma ni boh oh~"

then the others one will yell: "boh o~boh o~boh o~"

after that together they will yell:" yiang deng yiang hui o~...."

got some simplicity yelling means will continue: "yiang ga ba la mo hui o......." and a lot more, i can't remember.... haha~


here's another version:
A-ni-ma-ni-po-o, po-o Ngiang teng ngiang hui oh Ngiang gau pa lak mo hui oh

actually the pronouciation is the same. coz its also from Ayer Tawar. just the spelling different. lolx..

haha, i not sure whether its correct or not coz my Hokchow is not so good...
well, for those who speak Hokkien or Cantonese as their dilect, they sure dunno what are the meaning and will think its very funny... =p
Those more brave one (or ppl call them samseng although i think some of them are not...) will drive their motorcycle around the town and shouting the sentence mentioned above.

i wonder why SP, Alor Setar and Penang and town people didn't shout when taking lantern.

I still remember during my Form 5 mooncake festival time, most of my classmates decided to go "ti deng long" (read in chinese) together.
So more than half of the class, we bring our lantern, and candle, and matches, gathered at one of my friend's house, then walk from one housing area to another. meanwhile, we shout the yell i mentioned above.

during my foundation time, i celebrated this lantern festival with my roommates and housemates. we also take lantern in our campus. n hang the lanterns on the tree. some lantern even burned after the candle finish. haha. n i brought along mooncake from house too n share wif my frens. tat's nice. different differnt moooncake mix n eat.

last year, i celebrated this festival here in my campus too. and that time, not much celebration, just joining my ex-classmates and those foundation students and follow them to the sports complex to see they put the 孔明灯. coz the Dentistry students are selling it and also having stalls set up at cafe.

this year, same. they are doing so. and i'm going to celebrate too later.
but oops, its raining now... hmm. see how la. may be play in hostel. lolx.
or just wait for the rain stop. i guess it will stop soon...

just now i bought the lantern from my junior. haha. they selling illegally but cheaper compare to BDS one. so i support them^^
and they say they just sell it to gain experience only. haha~

Conclusion: I prefer small town style Mooncake festival celebration.

well, today is our AEIT week.... which is AIMST Engineering and Information Technology week.
actually its just today and tomorrow.

and u know what, 1 hour before the seminar start, i was only told by my lecturer that i need to be the MC of the seminar today. so after breakfast, i went to see the lecturer in charge and she tell me what i should talk, at the same time i was writing it down.

it begins with:
A very good morning to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Frederick Charles Smales, Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Sethuraman, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hacharan Singh.....Dean of Faculty of Enginering........ bla bla bla..... Welcome to the third AIMST Enginering and IT week.


after the event end, they told me i need to be MC again for tomorrow...
welcoming and introducing the 2 speakers...
haiz. but not really a big crowd tomorrow i guess. so no worry for me, hehe....
